Often, the material choices, proportions, and details of the copied products are hard to tell apart from the original, even for conscious consumers. When looking at an original Secto Design fixture, there are a few ways you can tell an original apart from a copy:
Handcraft is a vital premise for Secto Design and the only way to manufacture the fixtures is with high-quality standards. Made of Finnish birch, the fixtures undergo a thorough quality inspection before they are sent to their final destination. Most copies are not handcrafted.
Secto Design labels its products with a special hologram sticker as proof of authenticity. This unique hologram sticker is a 20 x 10 mm sized hologram security seal added to the shade of each fixture. It is a tamper-evident seal, that shows the product has been made in Finland, of top-quality birch material, by talented local carpenters, in a fair work environment, and that the electrical components are approved and safe to use.
The hologram has a visible image of the conical Secto lamp with further information hidden in its layers. If removed, the hologram will break into pieces, guaranteeing the hologram sticker can only be used once, on the original product. The hologram is designed to be visually clear and overtly has security features within it.
The decision to distinguish its products with the seal of authenticity is also an important statement and action from Secto Design in its fight against counterfeit products and defending its own intellectual property rights.
